Marina SAIKI

「From the moment her fingers touch the keys, we are immediately captivated by her musical discourse。」

- Christian IVALDI

Japanese by birth, French by history, Marina Saiki is a pianist whose energetic and luminous playing immediately draws the listener into her world。

Marina performs as a soloist at prestigious festivals such as the Festival International de la Roque d’Anthéron, La Folle Journée de Nantes, the Chopin Festival in Paris, the Festival International de Saintonge, Journée de Ravel, Étoiles du Classique, Festival Music’océan, Les Pianissimes。 In 2022 and 2023, she was invited to perform Clara Schumann's concerto with the Orchestre Paris Rive Droite。Her musical journey has taken her across Europe, to Italy, Spain, Germany, and Belgium. In the United States, she embarked on a remarkable tour, performing seven concerts in seven days in New York in 2023 alongside pianist Gaspard Thomas。

Her sound palette, both richly luminous and sparkling, yet dense and profound, spans a vast repertoire from Bach to contemporary music, embracing romantic, French, and Japanese compositions。

Through her music, Marina seeks to share the richness and diversity she has embraced through countless encounters and a fraternity that transcends borders。She is currently preparing her first album, “Double Reflet,” a fusion of her dual cultural identity and an inner voyage for the listene。

Marina is a frequent guest on France Musique's Générations France Musique program, performing with ensembles like Trio Lazuli (with Anna-Li Hardel on violin and Romane Bestautte on cello), with whom she won the Leopold Bellan International Competition and the Académie Ravel。She also forms part of the Trio Marilys with Hélène and David Walter, an unusual trio combining soprano, oboe, and piano. This trio graces stages in Switzerland, France, and Bulgaria, and recorded their first album in Poland in September 2023。

Marina is highly regarded by prominent saxophonists, collaborating with artists such as Claude Delangle, Vincent David, Nicolas Arsenievitch, and Alessandro Malagnino。She premiered “Si-Mi” by renowned Japanese composer Ichiro Nodaïra for clarinet and piano with Damien Fouilloux。

Born in 1995 in the serene town of Imabari, Japan, Marina began her piano journey at the tender age of two。Her transformative encounters with Yoko Kono, a former student of A.B. Michelangeli, and later with Christian Ivaldi at the Académie de Musique Française in Kyoto, inspired her to move to Paris at fifteen。 In 2014, she entered the CNSM de Paris, where she graduated with distinction under the guidance of Claire Désert and earned several diplomas in chamber music under Michel Michalakakos and Louis Rodde。 Alongside a Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète in contemporary music, which saw her perform with the Ensemble Intercontemporain, she explored fortepiano, composition, and generative improvisation. She further refined her artistry with Rena Shereshevskaya at the École Normale de Paris。

Marina has received invaluable guidance from esteemed musicians such as Bernd Goetzke, Patrick Cohen, Michel Dalberto, Pavel Gililov, Philippe Bianconi, Julia Mustonen-Dahlkvist, Markus Hadulla, Mitsuko Shirai, Bertrand Chamayou, Claude Delangle, Michael Hentz, Haruko Ueda, Pascal Devoyon, François Salque, Michel Beroff, and Hortense Cartier-Bresson。

Her artistic journey has been supported by the Fontainebleau American School of Fine Arts, Fondation l’or du Rhin, Fondation Meyer, Fondation Carasso, Orphée Musique, École Normale de Paris, and PTNA Japan.
